Langtang
region is toward the north of Kathamndu Valley.
The scenery here is spectacular, and the trek
more adventurous as the area is visited by fewer
tourists. To the west of Langtang is Ganesh
Himal with range of 6,000 to 7,000 meters. The
main ethnic groups living here are Sherpas and
Tamangs. The forests in the region have
temperate and sub-alpine vegetation. Wildlife
includes migratory birds, deer, Monkeys, Thar
and Pika. Helambu, the mid elevation region to
the Park's south, is a study centre of Tibetan
Buddhism. Tamang eole maintain a rich cultural
heritage, evident in ornately carved wooden
windows, lively dance festivals, and skilled
weaving traditions. The best time for trekking
in the Langtang region is spring and autumn. All
trail heads are accessible by bus or private
transports from Kathmandu |
